July 2 - 4, Arrivederci Italy, Dia Duit Ireland, Beannacht Ireland

July 2 - 4, 2014 Arrivederci Italy, Dia Duit Ireland

Happy July 4th to everyone and to the USA!!

My boarding pass is printed for JFK so USA here I come, ready or not :)  Unable to print the one from JFK to SAC, since we are too many hours ahead of USA here in Dublin.  Probably be in the 'back of the bus' on that flight (not my favorite especially on such a long flight).  Going to be a looonnnggg day... 15 hours of flying... UGH

Started out the day with an awesome breakfast here in Dublin.  The first 'American' style breakfast I've had since I left the USA over two months ago.  I had forgotten just how good a simple fried egg and real toast tasted, so I ate very slow and savored it!

July 2 on my way from Florence to Rome.  Bye, Bye Italy

July 2 - 3, 2014

I arrived at Dublin airport about 11pm Dublin time (12pm my time), however, it was after midnight before I was able to collect my luggage and get to the shuttle bus.  On the flight, I sat by a lovely young couple from Ireland who were returning from Italy, and they were glad to offer information on where and how to catch the shuttle, since they were going there as well, to pick up their car where they left it when they flew to Italy.  It was a very long walk (15 min) to the shuttle bus and not well marked, so I was really glad to have someone to 'go with me'.  About half-hour we arrived at the Hotel, however, after I arrived there, I realized, it was not the correct one... my mistake really.  All I can say is it was very late and I'd had a long day already and forgot to double check with the shuttle driver to make sure it was the one I needed, since they have more than one here in Dublin.  Anyway, I then had to re-board the bus, go back to the Airport, walk a ways (shuttle driver was kind and dropped me as close as he could, so I wouldn't have another 15 minute walk at least).  After I located the Bus I needed to take, Not a shuttle, I then had to wait for the next one which didn't leave until 1:30am, (2:30am my time), since it only ran once each hour.  After a 30 bus ride, I arrived at my hotel.  I really was tired now, as it was really 3am for me.  Needless to say, I had a lonnnngggg sleep in the next morning and just crashed.  It was raining here these last two days, and I had the hotel window open, so slept very good!  I had planned to do a bit more sight-seeing here in Dublin, however, I just really felt like I needed to rest up before my long flight tonight, so I didn't walk very far or do much yesterday.  Did get a few pictures though and definitely will be back to Ireland.  It is a very beautiful country... lush and green.  Love the way they speak English with their Irish accent.

Here are a few pictures.  I will probably take more on my ride back to the Airport today, so will post them later if I get any good ones :)

The Hotel where I'm staying. Gorgeous inside too!

There was a wedding reception going on here... snuck a picture :)
Dublin

One thing that really amazed me, was just before we landed about 10:45pm Dublin time, is how light it still was.  My seatmates were saying this is normal for this time of year, but during the winter, they have long hours of darkness.

Crossing the street was a bit tricky... remembering traffic was traveling in the opposite lanes

Yahoo has a big building here in Dublin
At Dublin Airport waiting to board my Aer Lingus flight.  Quite the process getting through customs etc. to fly back to the USA
My last wonderful cup of coffee before I left Ireland.
Heard yesterday, that they have increased security for flights heading to the US and have long lines, also, my boarding pass says they will close the gate 2 hours before the flight leaves and that once the gate is closed, "Travel will be refused if you arrive after the gate closes".  So bye for now, see some of you in the USA.

Happy 4th of July!!
