May 18, 2014  Making Connections

Had a wonderful special afternoon with USA connections:  Herbert & Heidi Milligan.  Heidi is originally from North Dakota.  She knows a lot of the same people I know, especially Nancy and Myron who live where she was from in North Dakota.  Nancy and I go all the way back to when we were babies...our families have been friends since 1953.  Heidi and I also had a lot of mutual acquaintances in Illinois.

Herbert is from Ireland and so is Trevor's (Carissa) brother-in-law, Doug.  Herbert's brother and Doug were friends in Ireland.

They are such a lovely couple and have four of the most adorable children: Darin, Lucca, Lauren?, Karina?, not sure on the names, but something like that.  I'll have to do better than that next time :)  We took a long walk up the road to a little village and went to a park there so the children could 'spend' some energy after being in the car for an hour.  Packed a bit of a picnic... what a fun afternoon in the Tuscany countryside!! The view is just spectacular, then throw in some good company... doesn't get better than this!

Now, I've had to come inside as the weather is getting chilly this evening.  The folks of the B & B headed out for dinner about 8pm and said they would be back around 11pm.  I'm still getting used to the way everyone eats so late here!   They took me to dinner on Thursday evening and we didn't leave the restaurant until 11:30 and people were still coming in for dinner!

Everyone I talk to, I glean a little more information about where to go and what to do and how to do it!  This is all getting stored... hopefully I can remember it when I need it!   I do remember that on this date 1980 Mt St Helens blew her top!  Been thinking of that off and on all day.

Arrivederci

P.S. remembering May 18th 1980

  1. Awwww - You get to see Heidi & Herbert and all their little ones! Heidi is a little jewel from the prairies of ND, that is for sure! We spent a lot of time together when Heidi & her sisters were still at home...visiting back and forth as we had much in common with the dairy business! Special people--Heidi, her sisters and her folks, Lance & Lavonne! Give Heidi a giant hug from us, Carmen! You are doing great with the blogging, by the way! Can't wait to see where you will call "home" for a few years!
