June 28 - 30, 2014 Patras, Greece Part 2
Cristina’s sister
from Athens came late Friday evening. I
had a long sleep in on Saturday… they were wondering if I was okay… I didn’t get up until 10:30am. We all gathered at the other sister’s home, just
a few blocks from the ‘folks’ for lunch. After a 3 hour family lunch with much loud
Greek talking we returned to the folks house where everyone had a bit of an
afternoon nap except for me. I received
the ‘gift’ of free USA phone calls, so I proceeded to call my family and
friends and wake them all up… it was 3pm here in Greece, however, that was 5
and 6 am for those on the receiving end in the USA! Sorry for waking you on a Saturday morning,
but thank you for taking my calls J
Then at 4pm we all went to the beach.
The sea was not as calm as it had been the other day when
Cristina and I went with the kids, but it was just as nice and warm and we had
a great time. The kids loved it!
They are a wonderful example of what marriage should be as
well as wonderful parents and grandparents.
They don’t have near the amount of ‘things’ ‘possessions’ that we all
have in the USA, yet they have something no amount of money can buy! They are also such a wonderful spiritual
example of what is the most important thing in life.
All Greek to me!
The locals sitting in the Village.
When we returned ‘home’ and had our usual late supper,
showered and another good night’s rest.

Sunday morning church with more wonderful people
Then most stayed for
a potluck afterwards. Sooooo much
food. Then because I needed to leave by
3:30, to catch the Ferry back to Italy, they moved the 7pm evening bible study
up to 2:30, so I could be there too! What wonderful thoughtful people! Directly after, Michael took me to the Ferry
and lugged my bags for me, made sure I got my ticket okay and now I am on the
Ferry heading back to Italy. It is about
17 hours to Bari.
Was really hard saying goodbye to Toula and Timothy,
however, because Cristina lives in Bari, they will be coming to see her and I’ll
get to see more of them there, I hope. Also, after I get settled in Italy, my plan
is to come spend some time in Greece and do some touring.
There are a couple hundred USA school children on the Ferry
tonight and also, a whole group of college students from the US, Minnesota,
North Dakota, etc. All speaking
English. Also, several other Americans
on here tonight and some from Australia.
All I’ve heard since I got on, has been English. I’ve gotten so used to hearing Italian and
Greek these last few weeks, that it actually took me a little while before I realized
I was actually hearing English!

I had the cabin to myself when I went to bed, however, about
midnight we stopped again and others got on.
A lady got on there and was assigned to the same cabin as me, but she went directly to bed, and when I
awoke and came out of the bathroom, she was gone.
Had a restful night otherwise and arrived here in Bari at 11am. Marco and Nicola picked me up at the port.
Mariella made a wonderful lunch and I am catching up on
my computer things. It is cooler here
today and feels wonderful! Doing a bit of laundry this afternoon and tomorrow I catch the Train to Vicchio. Looking forward to seeing the Piccolo’s
before I leave Italy.
Will post again in a day or so.
Ciao
It was so good to hear your voice again, thanks for the surprise Sat. am call, we loved it! It will be good to catch up with you some more when you actually get back to USA.
